There have been Quarries on the Rowley Hills for over 200 years, and in the late eighties the last two surviving quarries joined together to form Edwin Richards Quarry (ERQ). Named after a previous owner, the quarry was taken over by MQP when the company was formed in 1996.

ERQ is the only hardstone quarry in the Birmingham area and supplies a full range of coated macadam's, hot rolled asphalt's and other specialist materials (see product catalogue), from it's Marini asphalt plant

The asphalt plant can supply materials 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on either a delivered or collect basis.

The Quarry is now exhausted and we will be relocating to a new asphalt plant in Wednesbury in late 2008.

Due to its location within the conurbation of Birmingham the company pay particular attention to reducing the environmental impact of its operations on the surrounding area. The company also supports many local community projects and promotes good relationships with its neighbours. It is a member of the QPA Good Neighbour Scheme and has won various awards for its attentions.
QPA Behavioural Safety award winner in 2001
QPA Innovative award, Highly Commended 2002
