Green Driving in North West Leicestershire

Green Driving in North West Leicestershire

Co-ordinated by North West Leicestershire District Council, the Green Footprints Business Network teamed up with the Energy Saving Trust during July to run a five day Green Driving Road Show at Snibston Discovery Museum.

The Network provided free smarter driving simulator lessons to staff from local businesses. MQP took up the offer and several employees attended. Staff from the Energy Saving Trust were on hand to guide people through a virtual driving session on an indoor driving simulator, providing tips on how to save money and carbon emissions.

The advice is that you don’t have to get rid of your car or even change it to stop wasting fuel. By adopting smarter driving techniques you can cut your fuel consumption by up to 15% and save around £250 every year on fuel.

After his session on the driving simulator, Simon Willis, Managing Director of Midland Quarry Products, enthused:

“This was a lot of fun and really makes you sit back and think about how you drive. I’ve learned that reducing your speed helps reduce your fuel consumption considerably and it doesn’t make your trip that much longer. It’s great that the Green Footprints Business Network is championing this sort of initiative to help local businesses save money and do their bit for the environment.”
