In 1998, Midland Quarry Products, in conjunction with Network Rail (previously Railtrack), formed several “Local Distribution Centres (LDC’s) at strategic locations around the country. These regional sites, which predominantly stockpile ballast, are supplied by 1500t bulk delivery trains from Cliffe Hill Quarry up to three times a day.

The transfer of ballast to these locations, allows local rail work sites to be served efficiently, thereby reducing risk to the engineering “supply chain”. MQP currently operate 1 of these sites around the country, positioned at Stewartby (just off the M1 Jct. 13).

Our sites have attained BSI ISO 14001 Environmental Management Accreditation along with ISO 9001 Quality Management Accreditation.
