Daughters Day is a success

On Thursday 25th April MQP welcomed 12 local schoolgirls to its premises in Leicestershire as part of Take Our Daughters to Work Day. The national scheme, which was co-ordinated by the Girl Guide Association this year, was organised to allow girls aged between 10 and 15 the chance to see the opportunities available to them in the work place. MQP invited its employees daughters to spend the day with the company along with some of the local Girl Guides.
The day included a talk by Katherine Jennings, External Sales Representative, activities on work and careers, a tour of one of MQP’s asphalt plants and a trip to Cliffe Hill Quarry. At Cliffe Hill the girls saw a blast and watched intently as rock was broken down in the primary crusher.
All 12 girls were keen to help out and openly displayed their enthusiasm for working at the quarry after finishing school. Said Stephanie Ball, who’s step-father is a Fitter at Cliffe-Hill, “The day was really useful and I got to tell my Geography teacher some interesting things. I enjoyed watching the blast the most because I will probably never get to see something like that again.”
