Swans rescued by quarry workers Workers at Cliffe Hill Quarry in Leicestershire were praised recently by an RSPCA officer after spending many hours helping to free a swan and her young cygnets at the quarry.
The swans got into trouble when the cygnets started to learn to fly and landed in front of a main quarry blast. Work was halted while staff and the RSPCA dealt with this very delicate problem. After some time the swans were eventually moved to a safer home on a nearby reservoir where they will be looked after properly.
