Nathan Hammond – Asphalt Production Manager

II joined MQP on the Advanced Modern Apprenticeship Scheme, based at Cliffe Hill Quarry in September 2002. I attended Leicestershire Engineering Training Group (L.E.T.G) on a month on month off basis between the college and work to complete NVQ 2 is basic engineering.

Danielle Merry - Weighbridge Supervisor Cliffe Hill

I joined MQP in 2014, after 5 years of working in the beauty industry I felt it was time for a change. I started in the position of Weighbridge Clerk at Cliffe Hill, it was a job I had never dreamed I would end up doing, I thought quarries were for men. The weighbridge is at the centre of all operations and involves dealing with people from the distribution office, plant and hauliers. The job can be busy and challenging and definitely keeps you on your toes. I have had the opportunity to work all over the Midlands at our various sites.

Sam Hewitt - Asphalt Production Supervisor

I joined MQP on the LEAD higher apprenticeship scheme in 2014 based at Cliffe Hill quarry. The scheme was based around getting practical supervisory knowledge at work, understanding how the industry works, whilst learning the theoretical side at Derby University. This was distance based learning, which only required going to university a few times a year for tutorial weekends. This meant the onus was on me to keep up to date with the work given by the university through an online portal. During my studies I also completed a level 4 NVQ in supervisory management within the extractive industries which tested my competence to manage work on a day to day basis.

Sam Moore - Transport Supervisor

I joined MQP in September 2007 where I first took up my role as Order Coordinator in the Distribution Department based at Whitwick Head Office. I came into the Industry as a fresh faced 21 year old, eager to build my knowledge and understanding about the Industry. My primary role was dealing with our customer base, processing Asphalt & Aggregate orders on the system in order for the Weighbridges to plan their despatch programme accordingly for the following days.

Steve Kendrick - Distribution Supervisor

I started working at MQP in 2000 as an Order Co-ordinator based in the Head office at Whitwick.  My primary role consisted of dealing with customer enquiries over the phone, be that either placing or chasing orders along with liaising with drivers and the weighbridges.  This was a sharp learning curve for me as I hadn’t had any experience within an office environment on computers or the telephone; I soon fitted in well to an already established team.
