Midland Quarry Products Safety & Health Management System
Policy Statement
As Managing Director I have overall responsibility for health & safety and will manage this aspect of the business as follows:
- MQP is committed to the highest reasonably practicable standards of safety, health and welfare for all its employees and others affected by its business, including stakeholders, visitors and the public.
- Safety and Health is a management responsibility having equal priority to any other objective of the business.
- All employees have a duty to actively co-operate in creating a safe and healthy workplace free of unsafe acts and unsafe behaviour.
- As a minimum, MQP will comply with all relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice including Quarry regs, Health & Safety at Work Act and best practice etc.
- Company standards will be set and procedures developed to ensure implementation across all sites, this will include worker participation, mobile plant, safe systems of work, equal opportunities etc.
- Appropriate training will be given to ensure competence and development of staff. This will include the implementation of National Vocational Standards (NVQs) where applicable.
- Safety, Health and Environmental committees will be set up at all sites to facilitate employee participation in S.H.E. matters.
- Regular Safety and Health inspections and audits will be undertaken as well as ensuring emergency arrangements are effective.
- Regular health surveillance will be carried out and staff made aware of COSHH, Noise and other occupational health issues. On a regular basis staff will receive health screening.
- All efforts will be made to minimise / eliminate incidents and near hits across all sites.
- Policy and procedures will be reviewed regularly and revised as necessary.
This policy will be implemented through the management structure and business processes within the company, through MQP's S.H.E. Manager.
