Driver training

Through our involvement with the Mineral Products Association (MPA) and the Mineral Products Qualifications Council (MPQC) we are continuously developing the skills and knowledge of our franchisee drivers. We have been encouraging drivers to further their skills and broaden their knowledge through various NVQ’s, SAFED & Safedrive courses as well as the now statutory Driver Skills Card. The SAFED (Safe & Fuel Efficient Driving) course specifically looks at the environmental impact the vehicle can have and how a driver can minimise the fuel usage by becoming a more efficient and safe driver. The implementation of the statutory Driver CPC programme which took effect as of September 2009 has enabled the industry to develop specific relevant training courses which will improve the overall standard and efficiency of all drivers across all logistics sectors.

In recent years we have increased our focus on vulnerable road users and have been an integral part of course development in this area through our membership and involvement with the Mineral Products Association (MPA) Transport Committee.
